Travel days

1. Day: arrival - Blois

Individual arrival to Blois. The royal castle, which towers over the city from its rocky plateau, is the symbol of the fairy-tale history of the Loire castles.

2. Day: Blois - Amboise (approx. 42 km)

Passing small villages, you follow the cycle path to the Chaumont castle, which sits imposingly enthroned over the Loire River. You then continue along the Loire up to today’s stage destination Amboise. Here you will be awaited by another royal castle, in which Leonardo Da Vinci once resided, among others.

3. Day: Amboise - Chenonceaux (approx. 44 km)

Your path will first lead you through the wine-growing areas of the antique city Montlouis-sur-Loire up to the Cher River. Travelling along the lower Cher valley, you will cycle through natural landscapes up to Chenonceaux. Here you will be awaited by one of the most well-known and one of the loveliest moated castles in France.

4. Day: Chenonceaux - Cheverny/Chitenay (approx. 40 – 54 km)

Today’s stage will first lead you along the Cher riverbank up into the town of Montrichard with its medieval old city. From here, the route will lead you away from the Cher valley through the picturesque Touraine vineyards to Cheverny or Chitenay.

5. Day: Cheverny/Chitenay - Blois (approx. 40 - 50 km)

During the last stage of your cycling trip, you will be able to enjoy two of the loveliest castles along the Loire. The magnificently furnished castle of Cheverny has been inhabited by the same family for centuries and is enchanting with its beautiful gardens. The castle of Chambord is a true masterpiece of French Renaissance.

6. Day: Blois - departure

Individual departure or extension.

The route leads you mainly along asphalted cycle paths. At times, you will also travel on small side-streets with little traffic.
